One Year Check Up

This morning the girls had their one year check up! I was not looking forward to this doctor's appointment because Alysha was so fussy this morning and I knew they would be fussy after the doctor's visit. Thankfully the girls both had good check-ups. They are both really healthy! The girls received another three shots each.

You will never guess who is the heaviest right now??? Nope...it is not Alysha! Skylar weighed in at 21 pounds and 7 ounces and is 28 and half inches long. Alysha weighs 19 pounds and 11 ounces and is 28 inches long.

Thankfully they are both sleeping this afternoon and I hope they both wake up happy!!

Happy First Birthday Skylar and Alysha!!!

Happy 1st Birthday Skylar Grace!!! Happy 1st Birthday Alysha Joy!!!

What a FANTASTIC first birthday for Skylar and Alysha! Their birthday started with hearing their birthday message on 91.3 WCSG from Papa and Grandma Van Dam:

Skylar Grace and Alysha Joy, today is your first Birthday! How excited we were to find out that you were twins! Before you were born we called you our Baby Peace and Baby Joy. Our prayer for you then and now comes from Romans 13:15: " May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in Him, so that you will bubble over with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit." We your Papa and Grandma Van Dam, along with your Dad and Mom, Scot and Melissa Van Dam, your grandparents Bill and Mary De Vree, your great grandparents, Aunts, Uncles, and Cousins, all wish you a happy first birthday! We love you Skylar Grace and Alysha Joy! Happy First Birthday!

Grandma Van Dam came over to give the girls birthday hugs and played bumpy road, smooth road, ditch! I think Grandma got a leg workout!!! Later that day Aunt Sarah came over and gave the girls a bath so I could get a few things ready for the party! The girls' feet and hands were like prunes when they got out. In the afternoon the girls received a special phone call from Aunt Holly and their cousins, Mason and Colton. They sung Happy Birthday to Alysha and Skylar. Skylar and Alysha also received a special delivery from the Balder family, a butterfly balloon and a pink and purple gerbera daisy!!!
At four o'clock Aunt Heidi came over to play with Skylar and Alysha for an hour so I could finish getting ready for their birthday party. At 6:00 their birthday party started! We had dinner first and then opened gifts! It was fun watching them ripping the paper off the gifts. The girls received a lot of fun toys!!!
After all the gifts were opened we had cake. Alysha LOVED her cake. Skylar wanted nothing to do with her cake! She is a very picking eater, what girl does not love chocolate???
After Alysha was finished eating her cake we threw her in the tub. She was a mess!!!

The night ended with the girls getting a phone call from Papa Van Dam wishing them a Happy Birthday!
THANK YOU EVERYONE for making this day so special!!!

Merry Christmas!!!

Happy Birthday Jesus and Merry Christmas to you all! I hope you were able to enjoy this wonderful holiday with your loved ones. Skylar and Alysha were able to enjoy their first Christmas at Papa and Grandma DeVree's. Our party started at one in the afternoon and we did not go home till 7:00. We had a great time with one another.

Alysha and Skylar sitting by Grandma.

Miss Gwen It is so much fun watching the three girls play with one another. Gwen is 3 months younger than Skylar and Alysha but looking at them you would have no idea. Papa eating with Eli at his table. We had a very nice ham dinner. I think every meal we had for Christmas this year included ham. Good thing we love ham.

After lunch we started opening the presents.

Alysha and Skylar received a lot of fun gifts. They received a kids size picnic table and clothes from Papa and Grandma. Uncle Chris and Aunt Sarah gave each of them their first purse. Uncle David and Aunt Amber gave each of them their first Tricycle. An from Uncle Lee Skylar got a vacuum and Alysha got a blow up penguin and a stuffed Grover. Now here is an arm full!!! Us adults were able to get a couple rounds of games in while the kids played with their new toys. Towards the end of the night Aunt Amber thought it would be a great idea to give Alysha her own chocolate dipped pretzel. So of course, Skylar and Gwen had to join in the fun.
Papa and Grandma DeVree gave each of the grandkids new PJs. The night was ended with each one of the kids getting into their PJs with the hopes they all fall asleep on the way home!

Christmas Eve

We celebrated our first Christmas Eve as a family today. The girls received gifts from their dad. Scot was so excited when his packaged arrived and would not tell me what it was. When Scot got home from work he could not wait any longer to give the girls his gifts. He did not have them wrapped so he took Skylar into our bedroom to give it to her. This is what Skylar looked like when she walked out of the room. Yep...she is wearing hunting camo. There is pink on the collar, on the wrists and down by the feet. The outfits are really cute! Then the girls gave Scot their gift. Alysha was more interested in her own toys. The girls gave Scot Electronic Banking Monopoly. Scot LOVES to play Monopoly. Scot and I enjoyed a really nice ham dinner. After the girls went to bed Scot and I tried out his new game. I am happy to report that I finally beat him at Monopoly. Granted it was only by $30,000 but I still beat him. It was a great first Christmas Eve as a family and I look forward to next year when we can hopefully start our own family traditions.
