Ghost, Robbers, or Sleep Walking

This morning I woke up and when I went in the living room I noticed our TV was moved. I called Scot to find out why he moved the TV and he asked "What TV?" I told him the one in the living room. He claimed he never touched it and he did not noticed it moved when he left for work. This made me very nervous b/c I did not move it and I don't think Trigger would have jumped on our entertainment center. So....how did it move? Do we have a ghost? If so, her name has to be Sophia and I will have my Dad to thank for that (Long story). Did someone try to break in last night???? Not something I really want to think about and the thought gives me the chillls.... Or was I sleep walking and moved it last night without even realizing it. I guess we will never know.

Beach Volleyball - The next Gold Medalist???

Sunday, August 24 a group of us got together at Holland State Park to have a hamburger fry and some competitive games of beach volleyball. It was a tad bit windy, but we all had a wonderful time! We had 6 players on each side and none of us have any idea how Kerri Walsh and Misty May can cover a whole court w/just the two of them. We had a hard enough time covering the court with 6 of us :-)

Elias Turns One

Tonight we celebrated Elias' first birthday. Elias is our nephew. His actual birthday is on Monday, August 25. His birthday was celebrated by family & friends. I think Eli loved his own cupcake the most!!! Or should I say, just the frosting. Aunt Sarah won on the best gift, a John Deere Tractor. Happy Birthday Eli!!

Friday night we attended the Whitecaps Game which was hosted by Hamilton Lumber. We enjoyed the evening with Scot's work "buddies": Clark and Roze Van Dam; Brad and Amy Vande Bunte & their family, and Eli. We had a great time catching up with everyone and enjoying the free food and drinks. Thanks Hamilton Lumber for the great time!!

Summer 2008

Summer 2008 has been very busy for Scot and I. Our month of June looked like the following:

  • The first weekend of June, my Mom & I went to the Bead & Button Show in Wisconsin for our first time. Yes, a bead show :) I did end up buying beads myself, however I am still not making my own jewelry.

  • Scot and I went to Cedar Point for the weekend with Eric and Marcy Yonker. We stayed at Kalahari Water Resort which was a blast. Cedar Point was a lot of fun. My favorite ride was The Millennium. I was also brave enough to try the Dragster - what a trip!!! You will have to ask Scot what his favorite ride was :-)

  • One weekend was spent with our group on friends in Newaygo for a great rafting trip. Granted it rained on Friday night when we had to set up the tent and it rained when we got back from rafting - but rafting was dry and sunny. That weekend is always filled with great times and memories.
And before we knew it July arrived:

The Fourth of July was spent with the Van Dam Family in Leemington, Canada. Eric & Heidi took the 5th wheel camping with the kids. Scot and I and his parents took the smarter route and got hotel rooms :). The hotel was great b/c it had an indoor water park that my Nephews loved. We had a great time making hobo pies, smores, riding bikes, & of course boating & fishing. Check out the picture of the fish that was caught. Looks like we will have enough Perch for dinner! Scot and I wished our time in Canada was a little bit longer.

  • Holland One Hundred - This year was my first year to try the Holland One Hundred Cycling event. NO...I did not do the 100 miles. For my first year I did the 36 miles. Thankfully, I was able to experience this event with two of my good friends, Andrea DeWeerdt & Krista Kleinheksel. It started raining after we left the pancake breakfast and had only 8 miles in. We ended up riding in the rain for at least 2 hours. Even though it rained and we were soaked we had a GREAT time! Next year we hope to try the 56 mile route - I think that is the next level. What do you think of the great helments :)

So far in August......

First Sunday in August we took the boat out with Steve and Andrea DeWeerdt. The weather was just perfect. We put the boat in at Port Sheldon and cruised to Grand Haven. Sunday was the last day for the Coast Guard Festival in Grand Haven. The best place to be during this time is on a boat! and then to "Hanky Pank" cove. We had a great time with great friends.

        • August 9 - 10 was spent in Chicago for the Van Dam Girls Weekend. I am so thankful I was able to attend. This was my first time to Chicago since my 6th Grade class trip to the Sears Tower. Chicago is a huge experience for a country girl like me. We went to the play Wicked. The play was EXCELLENT!! I had a great time getting to know Scot's Aunts and cousins better.

                • I tried my first craft show at Ross Park in Norton Shores. What did I sell, Cubicle Fish Tanks - check out the picture. I was amazed with the response I got. I received several compliments and handed out several of Scot's business cards. I was able to sell 5 out of 11, which I think is great for my first time. A special thanks to Scot for helping me out with the wood cutting.

                • August 16, 2008 - DAD De Vree turned 50!!!! Our immediate family got together at night to celebrate this mile stone. We had a great time catching up with everyone. I think my Dad had a hard time with the fact he was the BIG 50.

                Will summer ever slow down?
