Our Christmas Visitors

Tonight Scot and I were suprised by a VERY CUTE Christmas visitor. Our nephew, Eli, and his mom stopped by to drop off Christmas cookies!
Only 5 more days till Christmas.....

Van Dam Christmas Party

Last night we celebrated Christmas with the Van Dam family at Uncle Dennis and Aunt Sharon's home. The party started at 5:00 with a nice dinner. After we were finished eating the kids opened their gifts.
After all the gifts were opened, the kids went into another room to watch a Christmas show. The adults tried to play the game Mafia for the first time. I didn't think the Van Dam men would be able to play without cheating. We were able to play two successful rounds and I to the best of my knowledge there was no cheating going on. We were able to end the night with another game, Four on a Couch. We played this game 3 times and it hard for me to type this, but the men won all three times. The women were out numbered!!!!

35 Weeks & 6 Days - Our last Ultrasound

Today we had our last ultrasound at 9:30. Scot and I were happy to find out that the twins are doing great! When we stared the ultrasound, our favorite ultrasound tech, Lori, made the comment that these twins are looking big. Twin A is 5 pounds and 13 ounces and Twin B is 6 pounds and 6 ounces. Lori thinks the measurements for Twin A is a bit low and the measurements for Twin B is a bit high. If she had to guess she thinks the twins are about 6 pounds each. We also heard two healthy heart beats! Twin A had a heartbeat of 152 and Twin B had a heartbeat of 134. Scot and are still thinking a boy and a girl. The twins are still laying in the same position as last time, transverse (horizontal).

At 3:00 I had my third non-stress test. This test took 45 minutes and the results were positive. At 4:00 I had a doctor's appointment. By blood pressure is good and we talked about the fact the most likely I will be having a c-section. At this time the only thing we scheduled was my next doctor's appointments. I have to go back in on Thursday for another non-stress test. Monday, I have an appointment at 3:00 for another non-stress test and then I have a doctor's appointment with Dr. Strong because Dr. Siegers will be on vacation.

So basically, we are taking it one day at a time. Thanks again for all your prayers and concern during our pregnancy. We have been very blessed with a healthy pregnancy and healthy twins!

Twin's Nursery - Completed with Love

When Scot and I found out we were pregnant and we knew we did not want to find out what we were having, I had the hardest time figuring out the nursery. I wanted to make sure that the nursery was good for two girls or two boys. Now that our nursery is completed, I could not be more happy with it. The nursery is PERFECT!!!

I am so excited to tell the twins how their nursery came about. The twin's nursery was completed by their family with love!! Dad, Grandma Van Dam and Grandma De Vree all contributed to the nursery with their time and talents!!!

The first step was to find the right bedding. After surfing the web for several hours and asking many people for their opinions, I found the perfect bedding, Carter's Forest Friends.
The second step was to clear out the bedroom that we were going to use for the nursery. This bedroom was used for a guest bedroom, which really ended up being a room with a bed and all my extra junk. After getting the room emptied out the next step was to get the wall paper border off the walls. This project was more difficult than what we thought.
Thankfully, Grandma Van Dam was willing to put in many nights and tried different techniques to get the border off the wall. THANKS Grandma for sharing your time and helping us out with this part of the nursery. We know this wasn't an easy task and it took a lot of sweat & elbow grease!!!
After the wall paper border was off the walls the next step was to paint the room. Scot and I went to Lowe's to pick out paint that matched the crib bedding. Thankfully, Dad is very good at painting!!!
After the walls were all painted I had the carpet cleaned. After the carpet dried, Scot put the cribs together. A few weeks later, the dresser and rocking chair for the nursery was delivered by Van Hill Furniture.
The next step was for Grandma De Vree to come and paint a mural on the wall that matched the crib bedding. It has been a long time since Grandma De Vree picked up a paint brush. Grandma is very talented when it comes to painting and she did a great job!! This project was very time consuming! Grandma De Vree is very critical of her work and wanted it to look just right.

Grandma says that the twins will have to have the painting on their wall till their 18.
THANKS Grandma for sharing your talent and making the twin's nursery complete!!! The finished painting really makes the room complete!
Views of the completed nursery.

I have spent many hours in the baby room already rocking in the chair and just enjoying the room. In a few more weeks, there will be many more hours spent in this room for years to come. A SPECIAL THANKS to my mom and mom-in-love for their help with the nursery. Scot and I are very blessed to have a supportive family!!!!

Hoekstra Chrismas Party

We celebrated Christmas with the Hoekstra's the Saturday after Thanksgiving. We had a potluck, played a few games, and were able to catch up with one another.
