Mother-Daughter Tea

Tea is a cup of life. ~Author Unknown

A woman is like a tea bag - you can't tell how strong she is until you put her in hot water. Eleanor Roosevelt

This morning, I was able to take a couple hours away from the girls and enjoy a Mother-Daughter tea at our church with my family. This was my first tea party and it was a great time. I even tried some tea today and realized I am still not a big fan of it.

In the picture below from left to right is my sister Sarah, my mom Mary, me, my sister Amber, my Grandma Hoekstra and my Grandma De Vree. For the first time today I learned that my Great Grandma Vegter would always make tea at 3:00 in the afternoon everyday for my Great Grandpa and would take it out to the field where he was working. I love to hear stories like that from my grandmas.

In the picture below from left to right is me, my sister Holly, my Mom Jill, and my sister Heidi. Doesn't my mother look like she just attended the Royal Wedding? She looked great in her hat!!

After our nice brunch and tea we were blessed to receive tea etiquette tips from a "British family" of three. Check out their stunning outfits!! And of course, you can't have a tea party without singing, I'm a Little Tea Pot.

Aunt Sarah's Animals

This morning I took the girls to Aunt Sarah's barn to see her new lambs. Most of Sarah's sheep had twins, one even had triplets. It was so much fun to watch Alysha get all excited over the lambs. She was not scared at all. She walked right up to them and was all smiles. I think Aunt Sarah found her new barn buddy. Skylar on the other hand wanted nothing to do with the lambs. She was only happy if someone was holding her. After checking out the lambs the girls checked out the horses. Alysha took her first horse ride with Papa's help. I have a feeling she will be in the barn a lot more in the years to come! She did not want to leave.
Even Skylar rode a horse for the first time.

Happy Mother's Day

Happy Mother's Day to all the Mother's out there!

I had a great Mother's day. I received a card from both of my girls. Alysha gave me a pedicure and Skylar gave me a manicure. My wonderful husband also gave me a nice card and with it gave me $50 to use on a special day to myself.

We had a great lunch at Salt and Pepper in Holland with the Van Dams. It was nice to go out for lunch and not have to prepare anything. I was also really happy with how good the girls did during lunch. Scot watched the girls in the evening so I could run some errands and have dinner with my mom. Overall it was a fantastic day!!!

Finally Warm Weather!!!

What a fantastic morning! The sun was shinning and the weather was warm. The girls and I took a walk and when we got back we spent more time playing outside. The girls had a many of "firsts" today. They both took a ride on the lawn mower with their Daddy.

First time meeting Grandma's horse, Toby, up close and personal!

Alysha loved petting Toby and was all about it.
Skylar on the other hand wasn't to sure about Toby. Can't say I blame her when she had a big horse face in her small baby face.

Surprise...Happy 60th Birthday!!!!

SURPRISE!!!! Happy 60th Birthday Mom!!Yeah!!!! The surprise birthday party for my mother-in-law was a success! She was totally surprised to see her family and friends waiting for her at Salt and Pepper in Holland. My father-in-law did a great job at organizing the party and throwing my mother-in-law off on what was going to happen on her special day. He had 60 beautiful roses waiting for her at the restaurant. Everyone had a great dinner. The options were crunchy grouper, prime rib, or chiken marsala.
Cheesecake was for dessert and it was delightful!!!!

Something to Think About

A happy marriage is like mountain climbing - the climbers are safe only so long as they are tied securely together.
